holiday gift guide: jayme marie designs

it's hard to believe i haven't even known jayme of jayme marie designs for a year- and even harder to believe i've never spoken to her in person! but i know enough about jayme to know she has a wonderfully creative style and her gift guide proves just that.

jayme's fab gift ideas for . . .

sister/mom:

Personalized mugs (also great for hostess gift)

little girls:

I'm in love with the hair accessories at poppy row!

little boys:

I bought two Rody's for my boys this year in two different colors so they can bounce/race through the house together!

My little boys also love going on adventures and finding bugs and things in nature so I love this nature bag that I found on etsy (can be personalized with child's name!

This other shop sells this stack of nature scavenger hunt cards that I think would be perfect to slip into the personalized bag above. :)

friend:

There are several items that I love at Noonday collection, which is an amazing company that sells jewelry and accessories online and through trunk shows.  The purchase of their items helps give people aid for adoptions and the items made are by artisans in struggling countries.

hostess:

I love the personalized plates found in this etsy shop, or better yet... they sell attachments to turn the personalized plate into a cake stand!

I also love the journals at Minted.  They can be personalized with the giftee's name and you can customize the inside cover as well... such as a pic of the grandkids for Grandma and Grandpa, etc.  They are a great price too!

LH: what's the best gift you've ever gotten?

JG: One year my husband was sent to Ireland for work and he surprised me with a ticket to go with him and a ticket from Ireland to Paris.
We were on a budget and limited on time so we only stayed in Paris for 3 days but it was amazing and we had such a wonderful time.
Paris around Christmas time is covered in lights and decorations and it's just magical.  I recommend seeing Paris at least once in a lifetime!

LH: best gift you've ever given?

JM: Every year I write my husband a love note for him to open on Christmas morning.
Sometimes I think the sentimental gestures mean the most.

LH: what gift are you most excited to give this year?

JM: My husband and I (mostly my husband) will be building our 2 year old a tent similar to this one with fabrics to match his room!

We love making gifts for our boys!  If you aren't into making gifts, I have seen some adorable tents and teepees for sale as well, such as here or here...

LH: what's number 1 on your wish list this year?

JM: Well, I'm still living in the dark ages and I have a pink cell phone that is so old it doesn't even take pictures....booo
So, what I would love for Christmas is an iphone with this adorable Kate spade case. I've dropped several hints to my hubby so we'll see :)...

LH: what's your fave holiday tradition?

JM: We have several but one that I love is that the boys get to open two gifts on Christmas eve, one will be a pair of Christmas pj's (so that look adorable for Christmas morning pics) and the other will be a Christmas book to read before bed Christmas eve night.

how cute is jayme?! thank you, for the gift ideas {totes buying rodys for c & p!} and personal stories-  as well as working with lil hoot to create a whale of a time, june's sip & see, cloud 9 sip & see, fun paper goodies for HGTV's design star meg caswell -- and my personal fave - C & P's 3rd birthday bash!  {stay tuned for many deets on this one, folks}

june's welcome sip & see

thrilled to have a feature on amy atlas today.  especially since it was a celebration so very dear to me.  a real life party with heart.

here are a few more pictures of the sip & see by the fabulous meredith nelson of meredith nelson photography.  i've said it before and i'll say it again, meredith is the bestest and i am so lucky to have her in my life as a friend {and to document some special soirees, to boot!}

jayme of jayme marie designs impressed me once again with her beautiful creations and her positively wonderful work ethic and demeanor.

 and as always, sugar on top did not disappoint with her yum yummy cupcakes and perfect in every way cookies.  where did i find all these uber-talented friends?

i used a new vendor for the fondant flowers - she was amazing.  check out lisa's etsy's shoppe, sushiluna.  she truly went above and beyond to match the flowers on the paper goodies precisely.

it poured cats and dogs the day of the sip & see but that didn't keep anyone away from celebrating the arrival of june, who is already making all of our lives brighter.

so where to start?

jayme designed this invite with a soft pink color palette with the pineapple and flowers.  i wanted the event to be as feminine and summery as possible so this is what we came up. . .

each glass adorned a personalized label.

we gifted june this pink wagon and dubbed it 'the welcome wagon'.  it's where our generous guests placed their pressies.

guests sipped these pink drinks.

random ceramic pineapple i already owned. {gotta love homegoods}

beautiful mama and baby june.

june's "stats" proudly displayed on the sweets table.

cupcakes by sugar on top with toppers and fondant flowers by sushiluna.

frozen junebugs.
click here for the recipe.  tastes like summer vacation through a straw!

pineapple ice cubes.

our house number by chatham sign shop.  we had this long before baby june graced our lives but i have to admit i didn't know the origin until i researched for this party.

so i decided to display a brief history lesson about the gilded pineapple.
learn something new every day!

it read:

In neighboring salem, massachusetts, about 200 years ago, a ship's captain had just returned from the South Pacific, knocked on the door of a stately mansion on Chestnut Street and presented the owner with an exotic fruit... a pineapple. Gilded pineapple carvings soon appeared on the homes of coastal New England and confirmed that hospitality was to be found within.

the image of the pineapple came to express the sense of welcome, good cheer, human warmth and family affection inherent to gracious home gatherings.

thank you, sweet friends, for joining us to celebrate and welcome baby june.

please enjoy these friendship sweets. {dark chocolate}

learning is extra fun when accompanied by chocolate.

just so happens that harbor sweets are made in salem, where the pineapple tradition originated!

the very necessary fans.  thanks to all the guests for sweating it out in honor of june.

the garland: i'd been lusting after for months, from confetti systems.  it's hanging in c & p's room now.  LOVE.

meredith not only takes awesome pics - she is also the mastermind behind this one-liner.  and for the record,  i consider her an expert on hot mamas- she's one of the hottest ones out there.  forreals.  she looks like cameron diaz.

i set up shop on the changing table {which consequently weighs about 2000 lbs.} special shout out to june's daddy, will, and my supportive hub, CBC, for moving this bad boy. xoxo
i needed to get the 'change' reference in there as miss june is a welcome change from my two precious, albeit wild, nephews.

sugar on top used gold foil liners to bring out the gold in the garland and match the gold foil wrapped chocolates.

jayme used my special lil hoot font to highlight the 'baby-like' words on the food labels.
{i.e. baby, angel, sugar, sweet, and mini}

by the way, the cake was from whole foods for 12 dollars!  i simply added the fondant flowers for a complete custom look.

JUNE.
can you stand it?

proudest aunnie.
{wearing this pineapple top from kate spade.  obvs.}

i like to call this one 'the money shot'. meredith snapped it when the guest of honor arrived.  everything about it gives me the goosebumps.  i love how mommy is holding the outfit change.  it's reminiscent of a wedding day.

 wor-ship.
oh, and hey junebug- i'm so happy you were born.

BGR {big girl room} luuuuv

so for those of you who haven't checked out kiki's list yet- run don't walk for all the deets on this fabulous bedroom and much much more!  love-love this blog and adore the room krista lovingly designed for her daughter, lou.

precious.

lucky lou!

we are rocking a similar color palate in c & p's room.  have been thinking about their new BGR - was going to stick with the color scheme - partially because it wasn't that long ago that CBC painted their ceiling a deep aqua - and largely due to the acquisition of this garland that we bought for baby june's sip & see.  i justified this purchase because i thought i could use in c & p's room for years to come.

{in a rando small world story - Lou's fabulous tinkerbell birthday party was featured on amy atlas the very same day as june's sip & see.}

remember these gorge images meredith took?

well, maybe i should frame one because yesterday while i was professing my love for kate middleton-
this happened.

womp womp womp.

and it wasn't george!  it was C.
major BGR setback.
 might leave them in cribs forevah.

anyhoot, i worship Lou's room.  hey krista from kiki's list - you nailed it!

HBD, june-bug!

can you believe the lil june-bug turned one?!
{seems like we just welcomed her with her sip & see yesterday}

amy atlas was kind enough to post some of the deets on friday.

my fave being the hair clip favors.  adorbs {if i do say so myself}

jayme marie designs created such darling paper goods for the party.  jayme truly never ceases to amaze me with her talent and adorable aesthetic.  she incorporated some of the same elements from june's welcome sip & see for continuity while making everything fresh for her milestone birthday!

big thanks to shannon from no. 8 photography for snapping a few pics of a very half-assed dessert table at the last minute while getting rained on.  {we were waiting for the fedex dude to deliver a few more sweets  - they arrived after the party started.  obvs.  and ahum, my favorite sister in law forgot to order a couple of things.  love you, sissy. xoxo }
anyhoot, shannon is crushing it as the area's most up and coming food photographer and we were thrilled she popped over and grabbed some great shots despite the raindrops.

thank goodness these beauties from the art of cookies arrived.  they were just as yummy as they were precious.  love-love!

oh, and speaking of precious, there's the guest of honor . . .

we love you, we love you not, WE LOVE YOU, june-bug!
